Dallas-Fort Worth is full of outdoor activities in the summer. One of the most prevalent is SUMMER BIRTHDAY PARTIES. I have a summer birthday, and the debate was always…inside party or outside party? Of course, all of the adults prefer to be inside with A/C, but little ones can find it difficult to let their full birthday excitement fly if they are inside for an entire party. No problem! You can have the party both inside and out! This allows party guests to enjoy the bounce house or cool off inside for a moment as the party progresses. Here are a few tips to get your summer party off to a great start.
Provide COOL beverages and snacks!!!
A snow-cone vendor is always popular, but if you would rather spend your budget on other things; you have options! You can offer each guest fruity popsicles and let them know that there is a cooler full of icy cold water and beverages available when they want to quench their thirst!
Games to Cool Off! (Have towels handy)
Beyond the ever-popular rented water-slide, you can have other games that keep the little ones busy! One game that is fun and physical is the Pool-Prize Game. It’s simple. First, fill a plastic pool with water and hide a weighted prize or two at the bottom. Put a LOT of small and medium floatables on the top to hide the prize. Let just a few kids in at a time to search for the prize with their FEET ONLY. This is a game that can be played multiple times!
Let the Kids be Snack Chefs!
There are hundreds of ideas on Pinterest with snacks for kids to make and enjoy, but you can keep it simple! One party we attended laid out kid's aprons, large waffle cones, fruits, whipped cream, and different kinds of sprinkles. The fruit bowls were set on ice to stay ice cold for the party. Each child started by writing their name on their apron (or asking Mom to write it). After that, they would take a cone, put in the fruit that they liked, and top it with whipped cream and sprinkles! At the end of the table the children could take a fork/spoon for their fruit or just go for it with their fingers! They had SO much fun and they were proud of their creations!
