Recently, we received a call from a young father. He was throwing a party for his two-year-old son, and he wanted to know what his options would be. This happens all of the time. Parents want to celebrate their young toddler's special day, but they don't know where to start. We love toddlers and have a few suggesstions for this age group:
1. Schedule your child's party AFTER their (morning) naptime. I'm sure that for most parents of toddlers, this is obvious. However, many parties are adjusted to accomodate relatives or guests, and this can be hard for your little one to endure! Politely tell friends, family and relatives that they are welcome to join the party after morning yoga, or golf or whatever. :)
2. Let your toddler be involved. If your two or three-year-old has a favorite character, let them participate in choosing the theme. Allow them shop with you and pick out one or two things (plates or napkins) that they really like. Let your little one know that these items are for the party and you are saving them for that special day! You can even tell your child that it is their job to get the napkins or plates out for the party. This makes them feel involved and have a little ownership of the event.
4. Short and Sweet! Find an entertainer that can present a light 25-30 minute show with a lot of toddler interest. Puppets, color, music and bubbles are all great choices for this age. Simple shows with experienced performers are always the best option.
At Fun Time Entertainment Group, we adore this age group and enjoy working with parents to create an experience that will be perfect for their toddler's favorite things! Several perfomers on our team are great with little ones! We have puppeteers with sweet, funny shows, clowns and even a bubble show! We would love to help you with your little one's special birthday!
